Despite the snow and rain, progress continues to be made as the Key West Dairy Queen undergoes an extensive remodel.
In less than two months, the building is framed in, electrical and plumbing are installed, windows are set, as well as the large walk-in cooler and freezer foundations are set. New aspects to the building that have yet to be installed are the wireless, flat screen televisions, the grill area, and the chill area (where you can pick up your favorite DQ treats).
One of the most innovative features of the building will be the Solatube Tubular Daylighting Devices (TDD). This lighting system utilizes a patented daylight capturing dome that redirects sunlight to a highly reflective spectralight. The spectralight directs light through two lenses used to control natural light diffusion within a room.
These environmentally friendly lights, as well as other exciting features of the new Dairy Queen, should be up and running for the reopening in May!
